Colchester-based Homeless Charity Receives £20,000 Grant from Essex Healthcare Organisation

Colchester-based charity Beacon House has received a grant of £20,000 from Provide Community.  

Beacon House delivers primary healthcare services to people who are homeless, in insecure accommodation, or at risk of homelessness. The charity received £20,000 from health and social care organisation Provide Community as part of its community grants initiative.  

Beacon House delivers a range of services from its base in Crouch Street, Colchester. Alongside primary healthcare, the charity works with other local causes to provide practical support and advice, occupational therapies and health awareness workshops.  

After experiencing a significant surge in demand for support, Beacon House applied to Provide Community’s grant-giving initiative for support with its core costs and clinical services.  

CEO of Beacon House, Steve Brown commented on the £20,000 grant; “Without the financial support of organisations like Provide Community, it would be impossible for Beacon House Ministries to effectively carry out its mission of transforming lives – walking together with homeless people on the journey from homelessness to self-fulfilled, independent living. 

“We never take such support for granted and are extremely grateful that they have chosen to partner with Beacon House Ministries as, together, we seek to make a positive difference in the lives of many very disadvantaged people.” 

In 2022 Provide Community gifted community grants to over 30 charities who applied for monetary support with grants ranging from £3,000 to £20,000. In the last 11 years, the social enterprise, which has its headquarters in Colchester, has donated more than £3.5 million to local causes.
