Scrutton Bland launch networking event for young professionals

Networking events are nothing new in the business sector. But professional services firm Scrutton Bland identified that there was a need for an event for younger staff to get together and as a result have just held their first Young Professionals Event at the Boom Battle Bar in Ipswich.

The event was a sell-out as people under 35 from a variety of professional firms got together to network whilst playing darts, shuffleboard and pool. Event organiser Rachel Cornes commented “We had a great mix of people from solicitors, banks, accountants, marketing and recruitment firms and the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. The response that we’ve had from everyone is that they were really pleased to have this kind of event in Ipswich, and it has helped them to feel more confident about networking.”

She continues: “Several people commented that they have been encouraged to attend conventional networking events but didn’t feel they could talk to people very easily, and some said they had felt a bit overlooked by some of the senior attendees at those events. It’s also much easier to network while doing fun activities!”

Elizabeth O’Hanlon, Marketing Director, adds: “We are keen to have more Young Professional events and have plans for more in Essex and also Bury St Edmunds. There is definitely a need for young professionals to get together and network, and Scrutton Bland is pleased to lead the way in making that happen across our region. Keep an eye on our website to find out about future events.”
