Ingleton Wood breaks its own fundraising record for hospice at 2022 football tournament

Colchester-based property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood is celebrating after setting a new fundraising record at its annual charity football tournament held in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

Ingleton Wood donated £2,256.80 to the hospice after 12 teams made up of the practice’s clients and contractors battled it out for supremacy at Ipswich School Sports Centre.

MCBS Electrical were crowned winners after defeating Scrutton Bland in a tense final, which followed penalty shoot-outs in both semi-finals on a day of high-quality skill, drama and camaraderie. Players and guests also enjoyed some well-earned food and drink at the fifth-annual Ingleton Wood Charity Football Tournament.

St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent Suffolk charity, which every year supports over 3,000 individuals and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth, and Waveney. Those they support are living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.

With services costing almost £13 million per year to deliver, and with a significant portion of funding dependent upon the generosity of the community, donations are vital for the continued operation of the charity.

David Cresswell, managing partner at Ingleton Wood, said: “After not being able to host our charity football tournament since 2019 because of the pandemic, it was fantastic to be able to bring everybody together once again and raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice.

“The hospice provides vital support to individuals and families throughout Suffolk and parts of the East of England, and we are delighted to have played our part in supporting their efforts and breaking our fundraising record again this year.

“We would like to thank all of our connections who came along and made the tournament a huge success.”

Liz Baldwin, corporate and sponsorship fundraising manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Thank you to Ingleton Wood and all the teams that took part in the fundraising football tournament – your support is greatly appreciated by the whole hospice team.

“As an independent charity, we rely on the generosity of the local community to continue delivering our services to the patients and families under our care, and every penny really does make a difference as we seek to expand the support we provide in order to help more people across the region.”
