Water Direct is Shortlisted for National Award

After celebrating extensive UK awards success in 2018, Earls-Colne-based Water Direct has been shortlisted for Resilience Initiative of the Year in the 2019 Water Industry Awards in recognition of its innovation and investment in alternative water supplies.

Now in its 12th year, The Water Industry Awards celebrate and reward the outstanding achievements and innovations that help shape the UK water industry. The awards are organised by leading UK water  media brands Water & Wastewater Treatment (WWT) and WET News, and are aligned to the Utility Week Live event, which takes place the following day.

Water Direct has been shortlisted for its work in delivering resilience to the UK water industry through its unique Nationwide Bottled Water Bank, alongside its ongoing work with UK water wholesalers to drive best practice through industry standards, engagement and innovation.

Rob Allan senior contract manager at Water Direct said, “It is a great achievement to be recognised once more for our work within the water industry. 2018 was a watershed year for Water Direct, where we saw the most substantial phase of investment in infrastructure in Water Direct’s history, along with unprecedented demand for services.

“In the week following the Beast from the East, for the first time in our history we were called upon by almost all our contracted customers simultaneously and the proof of concept for the Nationwide Bottled Water Bank in a large scale emergency could not have been more evident. The Water Industry Awards are such an important form of recognition for the great work that goes on throughout the industry, and it is an honour to be shortlisted. We also wish all our fellow nominees the best of luck.”

The 2019 Water Industry Awards ceremony and gala dinner will take place on Monday, May 20 at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham. For more information please visit the Water Industry Awards website.
