Property and construction consultants Ingleton Wood, based in Colchester, has double reason for celebration after the new appointment of two graduate building surveyors helped the firm reach the 200-employee milestone.
Ingleton Wood has invested in the future with Tom Godfrey, 28, with a MSc in Building Surveying, and 44-year-old Nicholas Mitchell, who has a wealth of practical construction experience after graduating with a Bsc (Hons) degree in construction management.
Nicholas admits he is “breaking the mould” after joining the scheme in his mid-40s following a break to care for his young daughter.
“You’re never too old to start a graduate programme in any sector – and I’m proof,” said Nicholas. “I’m not being treated any different and being an older graduate is spurring me on. I’m able to share my practical skills and experience to younger colleagues whilst also learning from them and the whole team.
“I’ve found Ingleton Wood to be a forward-thinking, agile-working company with a diverse culture and a real sense of community. I can’t wait to develop my consultancy skills.”
Meanwhile, Tom, who also studied towards an undergraduate BA (Hons) degree in Politics and French at the University of Exeter, gained work experience at a surveying company before joining Ingleton Wood’s Colchester office.
The keen sportsman said: “I’m very excited to be joining Ingleton Wood which has a strong reputation for holding very high standards. I’m very ambitious and look forward to achieving chartered building surveying status.”
Partner David Cresswell said: “Tom and Nicholas are quality additions to our teams as we mark our continued growth to over 200 employees. They have impressive hands-on experience and strong academic achievements, and we look forward to seeing them grow.”
The pair will be supported towards becoming chartered surveyors by passing their APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) with training and mentorship from Ingleton Wood.
