Unity Stars Shortlisted for DevelopHER Awards

Unity Stars Shortlisted for DevelopHER Awards

Today we are taking our hats off to two members of the Unity Online team who have been shortlisted for the DevelopHER Awards, an annual awards ceremony which recognises women working in the technology sector in East Anglia. Web Designer wonder Larissa is in the running for the Eye for Design award, while Web Developer extraordinaire Emily is nominated in the Best Newcomer category. And we couldn’t be prouder!

What is the DevelopHer Awards?

The DevelopHER awards shine a light on the women working in the male-dominated world of technology, recognising their awesome achievements and inspiring the next generation to follow in their footsteps. After a forced hiatus in 2020, the awards return this year with a ceremony in Cambridge on the 25th November – where we will be hoping to see our two teammates picking up their well-earned awards.

Meet Larissa – Eye for Design Nominee

Currently on maternity leave with her first child, since Larissa has been away from the office we have all realised exactly what we are missing and what a key player she is in our team. With a broad skillset which emcompasses designing everything from logos and brochures to eye-catching websites, Larissa has been behind some of our most successful designs.

As Robert Moore, Head of Development, explains: “Larrisa has natural design ability. The strange alchemy of ‘design flair’, ‘desire for success’ and ‘attention to detail’, I now know make for the perfect Website Designer.

Meet Emily – Best Newcomer Nominee

Since Emily joined us in September 2020, she has quickly become a core member of the team. In fact, it’s tricky to remember what we did before she was around. Originally a Designer, she made the leap to a Developer role over the course of two years and is now a fully-fledged web dev with an impressive set of skills and a portfolio of projects to be proud of.

According to Robert, “It’s rare to find someone that is so keen to learn and expand with a consistently positive attitude. For me personally, if I need something done to 100% and on time, I always turn to Emily.

Keep Your Fingers Crossed

We’ll find out in a few weeks whether Larissa and Emily get to take home the DevelopHER trophies. Whatever the outcome, we’re incredibly proud to have two such brilliant people on our team and thrilled that they have been recognised by the DevelopHER judges. Keep your fingers crossed for two Unity Online wins and check back after the ceremony to find out what happened.
