Chicane Connect support Ipswich care home in their Search for Santa

Chicane Connect are doing their best to make sure Father Christmas doesn’t find himself locked down in Lapland this year, as they pledge sponsorship to the residents of Bethesda Eventide Home as they ‘Search for Santa’.

Staff and residents of the Ipswich based care home will be covering 1908 miles (the distance from Suffolk to Lapland) between them to complete their ‘journey’ by Christmas Eve.

To support them in their quest and to replace funds that would usually be achieved by holding their Christmas Fayre Chicane Connect have pledged £500 towards their total; earmarked for the Residents Amenities fund.

“It is always a challenge for charities to boost their funds and this year will no doubt be particularly difficult” commented Robert Kemp, Managing Director of Chicane Connect, “this was such a fun, unique and proactive challenge that we were happy to get involved.” As well as sponsoring the event Robert Kemp will be contributing some of his own steps towards the total.

Rachel Gooding, Administrative Assistant at the Ipswich home commented, “ We started the walk on October 1st, to allow us time to cover the 3,816,000 steps before Christmas Eve and we are incredibly grateful to Robert and his team for pledging their support”

“Our whole workforce and residents are participating but we will be handing over to our residents to complete the final leg of the journey. We are providing pedometers to record the steps, which are logged and calculated daily”

“Proceeds of the fundraising will go towards the Residents Amenities fund which, in the past, has covered costs for activities such as Circus days, pirate and chocolate themed days, even an indoor golf course. This year we are hoping to raise money for landscaping our garden which is small and quite sloped. Many of our residents enjoy gardening, so raised beds and some kind of shelter would be the ultimate goal.”

Anyone interested on tracking the journey to Lapland can follow the participants progress on the Bethesda Eventide Homes Facebook page and contributions can be made on their website www.bethesdaeventidehomes.co.uk.
