The Bell Hotel Saxmundham finally reopened its doors on Monday 12th December. Diners flocked to the refurbished restaurant, eager to experience the ‘taste of Suffolk’ menu created by renowned local chef Garry Cook. Despite being billed as a lowkey ‘soft’ launch, all tables were completely booked up in advance, and the atmosphere was electric.
Andrew Beale, Managing Director of Beales Hotels, was elated to see a full house on the first night:
“After nearly a year of planning, refurbishment and behind the scenes preparation, it’s incredible to replace the sound of building work with the clinking of cutlery, laughter and vibrant conversation. Seeing so many happy faces means all the hard work has been worthwhile. With Christmas so close, we can’t wait to welcome local revellers and family groups, alongside those coming here to enjoy a seasonal Suffolk break.”
Beales Hotels purchased the iconic Saxmundham landmark earlier this year, and the family run hotel firm have invested heavily in its sympathetic refurbishment. This included working closely with local designers and tradespeople to create an authentic ‘Coastal Suffolk’ experience for guests and diners.
Andrew explains:
“From the local cheese makers, beef farmers and fisheries that supply the produce for our restaurant menu, to the individual theming in each guest room, The Bell is the perfect destination for anyone wishing to experience the best this region has to offer.”
With the luxurious hotel, restaurant, bar and lounge finally open for business, bookings are coming in fast, and there are already big plans to expand things further. In fact, early next year, construction will begin on eight more guest bedrooms, alongside lift access, a terrace, and private dining area.
The Bell’s General Manager, Ashley Beale, is excited to build links with the local community:
“Saxmundham has long been overdue a boutique hotel, there’s so much to experience in the town, and so many local beauty spots nearby. I’m passionate about bringing tourism into the local economy, and just as excited to create a welcoming place for locals to drop in, enjoy food and drink, and socialise with friends. After all, we’ve been welcomed with open arms from day one, now it’s our turn to open our arms – and doors – to the community here in Saxmundham.”
Tables are going fast, but diners can still book festive lunches, dinners and afternoon tea at The Bell Hotel Saxmundham here. Rooms can be reserved here.
