Ladies football launched on Essex/Suffolk border

The recent success of the England Women’s team has inspired more than one generation of footballers and, following popular demand, Brantham Leisure Centre have announced that they will be hosting a Ladies Vets football session on 21st October and 11th November at Brantham Football Club.

The event came about after a number of local ladies who had enjoyed playing football in their teens and twenties asked the Leisure Centre to consider hosting an evening.

“It’s been really exciting to watch the growth of the women’s game over the years and winning the Euros really felt like another turning point” commented Liz Baalham who played for Colchester United Ladies in the 1990’s, “It also got some of us talking about how much we had missed playing, as well as other ladies who had never had the chance but would now like to give it a go and Brantham Leisure Centre have really stepped up to make this happen”

A number of women have now registered their interest and the organisers are keen to welcome as many along as possible.

“We are hoping that women of all ages and abilities will come along to try for the first time or just to get those football boots on one more time. We have had a lot of interest so far and it looks like being a really sociable, fun evening”.

Any ladies aged 35+ years are welcome to come along for a fun and informal kick about. The football sessions will be held at Brantham Leisure Centre, 21st October and 11th Nov at 6pm. The pizza kitchen and bar will also be open afterwards.
